Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9th 1963 in Newark New Jersey. She is a daughter of gospel music star Cissy Houston(nee Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney Elizabeth Houston's sister Dionne Warswick is also a singer. The mother of Whitney and Whitney began singing professionally at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark at the age of 15 years old. They performed backing vocals in Chaka Kans' smash hit in 1978 Im Every Woman. The singer went on to sing the backing vocals of Lou Rawls Jermaine Jackson and her own mother. She also was briefly a model appearing on the cover of Seventeen magazine in the year 1981. In 1983 in 1983, she was a part of the New York City funk-rock band Material recruited her to be their main singer. Their quality was the reason she was enthused to join major record label Arista. Whitney Houston, her debut album that debuted in 1985 was the highest-selling debut by any artist. Many of the songs on her album were hit, including The Greatest Love of All and Saving All My Love. The album was sold out of 3 million copies during its first year in the US and went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning her the first of her six Grammys. The Whitney album of 1987, featuring the tracks that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to and continued to be a huge success. But it was The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the top-selling performers in the history of music. While her performance in the film and soundtrack were not well-received, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You and the album that accompanied it dominated the charts for singles and albums around the globe for several months. The album sold over 44 million copies. Her daughter Bobbi was born the month of March of 1993, the year following her wedding to Bobby Brown. At this point that her widely documented substance abuse began. By 1996 she was a daily user.

Dana Bash also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz is an American anchor of a reporter and political journalist for CNN. Additionally, she produces a number of weekends shows for the network including Evans & Novak Late Edition and Inside Politics.
