Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is the owner of control of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss is a native of California and grew up part of a rich family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon, and later the manager of Lakers and other enterprises. After her parents split up in 1972, she was convinced that they had abandoned her. She joined her family's business when she was 19 as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. She later set up the Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. She was the president of Great Western Forum prior to being elected vice-president of the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013, and the ownership of the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family with each sibling having the same vote. Her duties were assumed as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
